Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, UK High Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government, made an official visit to Northern Ireland, to make the case for increased and mutually beneficial commercial and cultural connections between Northern Ireland and Iraqi Kurdistan.
A reception was held at the Linen Hall Library, with an introduction by Belfast Lord Mayor, Pat Convery:
Afterwards, Quintin Oliver and Alex Maskey described to Ms Abdul Rahman our Iraq Helsinki Project work and our regular communication with the Kirkuk Provincial Council:
I look forward to the potential of an official delegation of business representatives from Iraqi Kurdistan to Northern Ireland, hopefully sometime early next year, as suggested by Ms Abdul Rahman in her short speech.
