Doomsday unrealised in Northern Ireland

Thankfully Northern Ireland never faced a Doomsday scenario, as pondered by the Republic of Ireland government in the 1970s (and reported by the Belfast Telegraph). Contemporary events elsewhere, including despair in the Gaza Strip, demonstrate how really ugly it could have got.
