Belfast has its blue and green “brigade” rubbish collection, and some taxi drivers won’t carry passengers to/from neighbourhoods from “the other side”. But at least there’s a single police, fire and ambulance service, which has been lost in the once integrated city of Mostar, Bosnia. Even where the Croat majority west side of town has agreed to allow Muslims to attend a grammar school, it’s only on a separate floor of the building, with a separate curriculum. More “separate but equal” than integration.
An interesting article in the Guardian describes Paddy Ashdown’s attempts to reunify the city.
